Our story
It all began in our own work - simplifying the complex personal data processing activities by visualizing them with data-flow maps. Our story dates back to 2014 when we were working in some of the largest Finnish enterprises.
Back then, we did not have proper tools to gather information easily from the employees to conduct privacy impact assessments or demonstrating our compliance efforts. Based on our own needs as data protection and privacy professionals, the idea of a software started to form its shape. An idea of a tool that would make data gathering easy, that would visualizes data-flows, while identifying applicable legal requirements and risks.
Today, we are backed by some of the most well-known data protection and privacy lawyers, and have helped numerous clients in various industries to achieve their goals. We offer a full suite of features that help organizations in their data protection and privacy, information security and third party risk management.

Jane Tolvanen
CEOI have a strong background in implementing legislative projects in the public sector, piloting and implementing new operational models. I firmly believe that as data regulations increase, responsible and transparent data processing will significantly impact the competitiveness of organizations. As a company, we are committed to actively promoting industry best practices and sharing knowledge throughout the sector. On my behalf I want to ensure that our software solutions and services provide our customers the best possible solutions to complex regulative challenges.
Ann–Marie Söderholm
General Counsel, CIPP/eI have gained deep insights into the ways various industries and actors organize responsibilities and practices related to data management. In my role at PrivacyDesigner, I have assisted numerous organizations in developing their practices to meet the demands of evolving data regulation and business needs. My experience helps in finding optimal and practical solutions for different situations as data regulation and processing scenarios become more complex. My goal is to develop innovative solutions that enhance organizations' AI readiness and sustainable digital growth.
Pekka Lampelto
AI Director, Design Lead, AIGPAs an engaged advocate in data compliance and long-time expert expert in AI, I bring a comprehensive blend of relevant knowledge and practical expertise to our clients. Holding a Master's Degree in Economics and Business Administration, with a thesis focused on AI and knowledge work automation, and a CIPP/E certification, I've been focusing my entrepreneurial career since 2016 into navigating the complex landscape of data compliance. As one of the Co-Founders and a former CEO of PrivacyDesigner, I've played a pivotal role in establishing robust corporate structures and acquiring significant clients across various industries, including insurance and media. My experience covers implementing and training on our SaaS data compliance tool in diverse sectors, from banking to entertainment, and managing critical projects for major organizations. Experience in leading clients through the ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 implementation and certification processes. I look forward to leveraging this experience to help your organization navigate the evolving terrain of data protection, AI, and data compliance.
Heikki Tolvanen
Chief Legal Engineer, CIPP/e, CIPM & FIPAs a Chief Legal Engineer, I am responsible for the development of our assessment and management platform designed for data management optimization and the identification of data-related risks. Additionally, I serve as an instructor for IAPP courses, providing training for CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, and AI Governance Professional certifications, and I am a popular speaker at various forums. In consulting projects, I assist organizations in mapping and understanding their data flows, thereby achieving data regulation compliance and AI readiness. I have a thorough understanding of data management organization and leadership, key privacy practices, and the complex risks associated with data processing, as well as strategies to mitigate them. Before my transition to PrivacyDesigner, I was responsible for developing, leading, and implementing the data protection programs of two major companies, Fortum and S-Group.
