What is AI Governance - and why is it important?

In Finnish organizations, the era of utilizing artificial intelligence is currently in very different stages. Some are already well advanced and have a functioning management model in place that guides the use and development of artificial intelligence safely and ethically. Others are considering how to approach the topic and where to start. There is momentum and willingness to embark on the artificial intelligence journey.

This fragmentation is due not only to the rapid development of artificial intelligence, but also to the fact that many are only just learning to recognize the opportunities related to artificial intelligence in their own operations. Some are waiting for an external party to come and tell us what works for us.

There is one thing that everyone agrees on - we want to use artificial intelligence responsibly and ethically. What does this mean in practice and how do we ensure ethics and responsibility in everyday life, whether it is using ChatGPT's LinkedIn posts, Copilot's word translations, or AI tools targeted or not targeted for recruitment? Is there any responsibility to be ensured, especially if license-based tools with clear contractual terms are used?
